A Treatment Plan tailored to each client involves a combination of cognitive, affective, behavioral, and somatic techniques. Janice draws from a variety of methodologies and techniques to incorporate what is most helpful in resolving current and long-standing issues.

Janice treats individuals and couples, often using a systems perspective to address individual stresses and relational conflicts. She is trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques and is Certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach shown to be effective for treating trauma and other types of psychological stress. (See “Services”)

Janice treats a broad range of mental health issues, including anxiety and mood disorders, psychological trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She also has an extensive background as an inpatient Primary Addiction Therapist and Clinical Specialist in treating substance use disorders, co-occurring disorders, and chronic relapse. Her experience at the outpatient level of care includes intensive outpatient (IOP) and outpatient (OP) groups and individual therapy. Additionally, Janice provides counseling and psycho-education to family members and other individuals affected by their loved one's drug and alcohol use. (See “Services”)

Stress can have physical, mental, and emotional symptoms. Unhealthy coping mechanisms that develop over time can magnify, rather than reduce, the negative effects of stress. Therapy can help build effective stress management skills to reduce stress from both acute and chronic life challenges, thereby increasing the resources necessary to affect lasting change.
